For years Gamma Rho Lambda has lead the initiative in providing hats, scarves, and gloves to children living in the Northwest Indiana region where there particularly harsh winter weather. Ensuring that children have warm clothes so they can go to school properly dressed keeps them healthy and is essential to their well-being.

Gamma Rho Lambda participates in the Adopt A Highway Program. Every quarter, brothers volunteer in a neighborhood clean-up on Broadway Avenue near I-80 and I-90. This program encourages chapters to participate in neighborhood clean ups and recycling, in addition to education about reducing pollution and paper wastes. We hope this will send the message that the cleanup of our neighborhood starts here, and we hope to inspire more with our actions.

Through our mission of providing service to our community and valuing academic excellence. The men of Gamma Rho Lambda volunteer to read to students and promote positive male role models. We seek to impact children’s lives one book at a time.

Every first Saturday of the month. The men of Gamma Rho Lambda assist the Delta Sigma Theta Gary Alumnae Chapter in providing free meals to hungry men, women and children in the Greater Northwest Indiana area. We provide a safe, clean, uplifting environment for guests in need of food and fellowship. Assistance is provided to anyone who walks through our doors without question.

The Gamma Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has partnered with the March of Dimes annual walk in Northwest Indiana. Join us as we walk the streets in support of the lifesaving work of the March of Dimes!

The Brothers of the Gamma Rho Lambda Chapter host an annual Sweetheart Dinner/Dance on or around the 14th day of February each year. The event is an affair devoted to celebrating our significant others and the contributions that they have made to elevating the lives of Alpha Men everywhere.
